The VK-X required the integration of multiple compact PCBAs within a slim, curved metal earcup—without compromising acoustic quality. This demanded precise engineering to ensure both optimal sound performance and internal layout efficiency.
Moreover, Aëdle’s stringent design expectations meant that all visible metal components needed a flawless finish. Any imperfection in brushing, polishing, or anodizing could undermine the headphone’s premium visual identity. The challenge lay in achieving impeccable aesthetics at a scale suitable for mass production.
Solutions
Collaborative Innovation and Craftsmanship at Scale
PICCA was involved from the earliest development stages, working closely with Aëdle’s design team to co-engineer a modular internal structure. This approach maximized space efficiency while maintaining acoustic integrity.
To meet the desired surface finish, PICCA devised a specialized multi-step treatment process—combining high-precision CNC machining, hand polishing, and custom anodizing. Rigorous quality control standards were applied throughout production to ensure finish consistency across all units.
Multiple rounds of prototyping were conducted to refine mechanical tolerances and optimize assembly procedures, guaranteeing every VK-X met Aëdle’s high standards.
