The Power Station
Osol Station – Power, anywhere.
The Osol Station acts as a centralized, cable-free hub, deploying smart batteries throughout the workspace to eliminate the clutter of cords and outlets. It enables businesses to optimize square footage while delivering an intuitive, seamless experience for employees.
Pico – Power anything.
Compact yet powerful, Pico is more than a battery—it’s a tool for creative freedom. Designed to power laptops (8–12 hours) and phones (up to 70 hours), Pico allows users to work where they want, when they want—no chargers or outlets required.
Challenges
Designing Pico posed a significant mechanical engineering challenge. The goal was to integrate advanced charging functionalities into a compact, portable form factor—without compromising the device’s elegant, design-forward appearance. The housing needed to withstand diverse daily usage scenarios across various consumer electronic devices, while maintaining a sleek and minimalist profile.
An additional layer of complexity came from the collaborative nature of the project. While PICCA led the mechanical design and production, the charging base was developed by a European partner. Ensuring perfect interoperability between the two systems—across continents and time zones—required precise coordination and seamless design integration.
Solutions
PICCA approached the project with a cross-functional mindset from day one. Our team delivered detailed DFM (Design for Manufacturing) guidance early in the design phase, ensuring the mechanical structure could house complex electronics while maintaining the desired aesthetics.
To address the cross-border collaboration, PICCA implemented a clear, structured communication flow, including frequent syncs and real-time prototyping updates to align perfectly with the European partner’s specifications. High-tolerance precision molding was employed to guarantee compatibility between Pico and its charging base, resulting in flawless mechanical integration.
