Collaborating with the R-PUR team, the primary challenge was achieving an ultra-lightweight design while preserving the mask’s advanced multi-layer filtration and Thermo-Control® capabilities. Integrating these critical layers into a compact form without compromising protection or durability required extensive material selection and engineering optimization. Additionally, ensuring superior ergonomic comfort and universal fit for a wide range of users posed further design complexities, especially given the mask’s distinct shape and the need for prolonged wear during cycling activities.

PICCA worked closely with R-PUR from the early development stages, exploring innovative materials and bonding techniques that maintained structural integrity while drastically reducing overall weight. Through multiple rounds of prototyping and user testing, adjustments were made to the mask’s contouring and fastening systems to enhance comfort, adaptability, and breathability. Special attention was given to achieve a balance between a secure fit and flexibility, allowing the Nano Light to comfortably accommodate various face shapes and riding conditions without causing fatigue.
